Sozan Ito active c. 1884

Painter and printmaker, primarily known for his bird and flower (kacho-e) prints, and some images of beauties (bijin-ga). All were published by Watanabe Shozaburo, a businessman publisher between 1919 to 1926. From 1926 Koson Ohara replaced Sozan as the main kacho-e designer  for Watanabe. Sozan was more of a painter than a printmaker which is visible in the painterly qualities of his work. His works are also less known than those of Koson, maybe because not as many were exported to the West by Watanabe.
