Kokyo Taniguchi 1864-1915

Kokyo Taniguchi was one of the most important Meiji print artists. He was born in Kyoto, and studied under the master of kacho-e print Kono Bairei (1844-1895). Taniguchi founded Kyoto School and taught at Kyoto City School of Fine Arts and Crafts and Kyoto Specialist School of Painting. His works include Birds and Followers (Kacho-e) and Beauty such as 'Spirit of the Heron Maiden.
