Shuntei Miyagawa 1873-1914

Meiji Woodblock print artist born in Aichi prefecture as Watanabe Morikichi. He was a student of Watanabe Shoka and later Tomioka Eisen. As many of his peers at the beginning of his career he had a period of working as a book and newspaper illustrator. Miyagawa is best known for his subtle genre scenes of women and children, the nouveau riche of the Meiji era.
