P&P (postage and packaging) charges?
Shipping and packaging charge will be added to the invoice at checkout. (Exemption from the shipping charge will happen when there is a free delivery offer or a prearranged agreement). Shipping charge will be waived if you choose to personally pick the item up from any of our three galleries, this must be arranged in advance. If purchasing more than one item, P&P discount will automatically be applied to pass on the postage savings to you. If you have a specific requirement, for example the use of a particular shipping company, such arrangements can be made by contacting us in advance.
All antiquities will have a 3% insurance added of the value of the item purchased.
Items within the gift shop will have a £5 insurance charge added for items over £20, this will not apply to gift vouchers.
Japanese Gallery ship worldwide, with insured shipping only, items will be despatched within 5 to 7 days of receipt of cleared funds. An express service is available for urgent requirements at an additional cost. Please enquire regarding this service.
How do I know the goods are authentic?
The Japanese Gallery has been trading since 1977 the experts on the team have a combined experience of more than 100 years within the field of Japanese art. The Japanese Gallery prides itself on providing genuine Japanese artefacts to satisfied customers worldwide.

Certification can be issued if requested and will be in the same format to what the Japanese gallery provides to museums and other institutions worldwide. The Japanese Gallery Guarantee of Authenticity means in the unlikely event that an item is shown to be a reproduction, a full refund will be made in accordance with our returns policy.

What happens if the item does not meet my expectations?

Japanese Gallery must be informed within 5 days of delivery of your intention to return any item. The notice to return the item must be accompanied with photographs of damage or discrepancies indicated by you.
 All 'returned' goods must be delivered to Japanese Gallery in the same condition as they were sent.
Items damaged in transit must be documented (i.e. photographed) on delivery and e-mailed to Japanese Gallery immediately. All the original shipment wrap and packaging must be kept by you in order to process a successful compensation claim.
All shipping costs, including packing and insurance are non-refundable and are incurred at the buyer's expense.
Refund of purchase price less a 15% restocking fee will be refunded by the same method as the payment was made.
Postage and Packing will not be refunded.
What if the item arrives damaged?
Upon checkout, you will be presented with a choice of delivery options including whether shipping is with insurance or without insurance. The Japanese Gallery will securely package your items to the best of our abilities and expertise, in the rare occasion of damaged on arrival goods, please contact us at info@japanese-gallery.com with your sales reference number and we will endeavour to resolve the matter as promptly as possible. 
What if the item is not as described?
If you are unhappy with the description provided for the item in question, please contact the Japanese Gallery within 7 days of receiving the item at info@japanese-gallery.com. The Japanese Gallery complies with the Distance Selling Regulations and will act accordingly.

Can I exchange the item for one of the same value?
An item can be exchanged if a pre-arranged agreement has been made between you and the Japanese Gallery.

Can I send you images of my item for evaluation?
The Japanese gallery provides two different types of evaluation:
For simple FREE authentication, you are welcome to bring the item to our gallery, it is best if you are able to send an image to info@japanese-gallery.com.

If the evaluation is for insurance purpose there is a 5% charge on the valuation of the item with a minimum charge of £50, in return you will receive a full in depth research about the item in question together with our recommended insurance value.

Do I need a permission to own a Japaneses sword?
You do not need any form of license to own a Japanese sword, however if you are transporting the item you must make sure that you do have a valid reason for carrying it such as going to an appraisals meeting or to practice Iai-Do.
If you are in the process of buying or selling a sword you must make sure that it is a genuine Japanese sword made in the traditional manner and/or made pre-1958 
The Japanese gallery offers a service where we will provide certificate of authenticity which will cost £40 to process with the option to be catalogued onto a database.

I am looking for a particular item, can I make requests?
If you have a certain item you are looking for, please contact us with the details of the item and your budget. We will advise you on how long it will take to procure the item, and we will do our very best to take care your personal preferences.
Can I reserve an item through this website?
Please contact us to reserve an item or multiple items.
Purchase priority.

All items listed on the website are stocked and displayed in the Japanese Gallery. If an item you placed your order online for is sold within the shop in 24h, the individual who purchased the item in the gallery has purchase priority.

Order cancellation.

The Japanese Gallery reserves the right to cancel all orders at their own discretion.

Special offers: free framing.

If a woodblock print has a free framing icon, shipping costs may change due to the increase of the item's weight and size.

Special offers: free gift.

If an item has a free gift icon, please scroll through the individual item images to find the image of the gift item or alternatively find the item code within the item description. You can view the gift by copying the code and pasting it in the 'quick search' window.

Is it safe to pay through this website?
There are 2 forms of secure payment gateway for you to choose from: Paypal and HSBC online payment. Both provide the highest level of secure online payment, and your card details will not be stored on the website.
Can I pay with a currency other than GB Pound Sterling?

Currently, on the Japanese Gallery website it is possible to pay for items in British sterling, alternative currency payment options are available, please enquire at info@japanese-gallery.com.
