Description

This print shows a barn swallow perching on a wisteria, which is blooming all around the bird. In Japan, wisteria represents the month of May and the season of spring.The violets and greens of the wisteria depicted next the the brown, yellow and blue of the swallow really are evocative of spring. 

This colourful print has an unusual, almost square format, called "shikishiban".
