Omori Hikoshichi was an officer in the army of Ashikaga Takauji. Shortly after Ashikaga’s victory at the battle of Minatogawa in 1336, Omori met a beautiful woman who asked to be carried across a stream. He noticed from the shadow thrown on the water by the light of the moon behind them that the woman had a demon’s horns. He immediately drew his sword and killed her.

In this print the woman’s kimono has a beautiful embossed pattern.

(Based on 'Yoshitoshi's Thirty-Six Ghosts' by John Stevenson)
