This print is showing Tsuchiyama, a station along the Tokaido road, located in the mountains, near to where the famous road ends in Kyoto.

On the bottom right-hand side, a daimyo’s following is shown to be crossing a bridge over a fast-flowing river. They are blanketed by a heavy spring rain and seem to be enduring the weather to reach the houses, hidden behind a grove of trees in the background of the print. The strong straight lines depicting the rain show its intensity, while the muted overall colouring of the image leaves the viewer with a vivid impression of the heavy spring air of the rainy season and the sound of the falling rain.
